When taking your business headshots or branding photos

remember that you're showcasing the face of your business! Using specific colors, props, and on location spaces is a powerful way to elevate your business branding. Your business headshot should be a photo that presents you in the best light, ideally from head to shoulders. While full-body photos can be great for promotional items, billboards, ads, or social media platforms like LinkedIn, they should always complement your primary headshot.

When taking business photos, opt for clothing with clean lines and minimal to no patterns, avoiding slogans, or logos that might distract from your brand. Solid backgrounds are ideal for business headshots, with "safe" colors like white, black, or gray providing a timeless backdrop. However, don't be afraid to experiment with more vibrant colors if they align with your brand's personality- just balance them with simpler elements to avoid visual overload. Also, don't be afraid to take outdoor headshots as well. They don't always have to be done in studio, but again, make sure the results are true to who you are!

When it comes to hair, makeup, nails, and jewelry, simplicity is key! You want your brands ambassador to shine through, not be overshadowed by distractions. Opt out of using oversized jewelry. Your hair should be groomed. Deciding to dye your hair to a color you've never tried, trying a new hairstyle, or a makeup style that you've never done before would be the worst time to experiment with. You may not be happy with the outcome of that new style before your session so don't take that chance. Not paying attention to these things, can convey that you don't care about how you represent your brand. By presenting yourself with confidence and authenticity, you'll create a compelling visual narrative that draws customers to you AND your business.
