Preparing your littles for a photo session

can seem like A LOT and it is! But you're not alone! Kids move to the beat of their own drum. One thing to mentally prepare is that your child might shine brightest in photos when they AREN'T posing. Some children don't like feeling like they are being forced to do things such as posing. Candid photos can turn out just as amazing with them being in their own moment. The energy has to be just right for them to feel like their amazing little selves and to capture their true spirit in photos. However, here are some things you CAN do to help them feel their best of their session. These things can help the session run smoother before you arrive.

  • Making sure they are well fed.
  • Making sure they get good rest.
  • If they're in diapers or pull ups, make sure they're freshly changed.
  • Have their favorite toy or comfort object close by but not visible unless you think they really need it.
  • Making sure they are not too hot or too cold
  • Playing their favorite song
  • Having their favorite person nearby

We're full of hope that they'll cooperate and shine, but there are times they may not. Don't worry, it's all part of the journey. Re-do sessions can always happen if necessary!
